A long-standing relationship with New Zealand Cricket involved designing multiple versions of their website, mobile apps, a live scoring platform and and even stadium scoreboards.
Over the years, we’ve redesigned New Zealand Cricket’s website multiple times, refining both the visual design and user experience. Early versions focused on establishing a clear information hierarchy and making key content—fixtures, results, and news—easily accessible. Later we introduced more dynamic layouts, improved mobile responsiveness, and streamlined navigation based on user behaviour insights. A key design challenge was integrating live scoring, ensuring real-time match data was presented clearly without overwhelming the interface.
The most recent version of the website has been online for over a decade, a testament to its solid foundation and ability to adapt to changing requirements over time. Regular updates and refinements have kept it relevant, maintaining a balance between consistency and modernisation.
When designing New Zealand Cricket’s mobile apps, we had to distil a large amount of information into a format that worked within the constraints of smaller screens. We explored different navigation structures and experimented with typography and layout to optimise readability. Live scoring was a core feature, requiring careful attention to real-time updates, data visualisation, and performance to keep fans engaged without compromising usability. Push notifications and personalised content were also integrated to enhance the overall experience.
Each new project with New Zealand Cricket has built on past work, using analytics, user feedback, and evolving design standards to improve functionality and usability. Our approach has been iterative, with a focus on refining interactions and ensuring the digital experience remains aligned with user expectations.
