The Vehicle Inspections app was designed to help drivers conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIRs), ensuring compliance with DOT hours of service regulations while promoting safety on the roads. The app provides a streamlined process for recording inspection findings, reporting issues, and maintaining a safe vehicle fleet.
The design process began with an in-depth research phase. We engaged with truck drivers, fleet managers, and safety experts to gain insights into the specific pain points they faced during vehicle inspections. This research highlighted the need for a simple, intuitive interface that would make the inspection process quick and easy without compromising accuracy or compliance.
We then developed a series of wireframes and prototypes, which we tested iteratively with users. This allowed us to refine the app’s interface and ensure that it was both functional and user-friendly. Key areas of focus included simplifying the inspection process, improving readability, and ensuring that drivers could quickly log issues or concerns.
Throughout the design, we prioritised accessibility and clarity. The app’s interface was intentionally clean and straightforward, with clear navigation paths to make it easy for drivers to complete inspections even in challenging environments, such as on the side of the road.
The iterative design process resulted in an app that not only meets DOT regulations but also enhances the safety of drivers by making vehicle inspections efficient and straightforward. With a focus on ease of use, the Vehicle Inspection app ensures that drivers can comply with regulations without delays, while fleet managers can maintain accurate records and ensure vehicle safety across their fleets.
